NXP I.MX 8M Processor Is About To Change IoT Audio, Voice And Video Interactions

Designed to meet the growing demand for audio and video systems, the i.MX 8M Series of application processors are ideal for smart home and smart mobile applications such as OTT set-top boxes, digital media adapters, surround sound, speakers, AV receivers, voice control , voice assistants, digital signage, and universal human machine interface (HMI) solutions.

The concept of smart home is spreading rapidly, not only increasing consumer expectations for audio and video entertainment, but also changing their requirements for consumer electronics. NXP's i.MX 8M series is responsive to the major shifts in streaming media: support for speech recognition and networked speakers in audio; and 4K high dynamic range (HDR) technology for video, making devices even smaller and more compact.

NXP's i.MX 8M series processors feature up to four 1.5GHz ARM® Cortex®-A53 and Cortex-M4 cores with flexible memory options and high-speed connectivity. These processors also offer full 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR (Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG) DSD512 audio. The i.MX 8M series is designed specifically for video streaming devices, audio streaming devices and voice control applications. The display includes the following models:

i.MX 8M Dual / i.MX 8M Quad with two or four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, one Cortex-M4F core, GC7000Lite GPU, 4kp60, h.265 and VP9 video capabilities;

i.MX 8M QuadLite with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, one Cortex-M4F core and GC7000Lite GPU;

The i.MX 8M Solo integrates an ARM Cortex-A53 core, a Cortex-M4F core and a GC7000nanoULTRA GPU.
